About me:
Well, there's not really much to tell. Former Flingwing driver and plank-banger (Pilot slang for helicopter and fixed wing pilot) working the North for about a decade. Before that I was a soldier of the Princess Patricias Canadian Light Infantry right out of high school. Served 9 years, retired as Sergeant and Section Commander of a reconnaissance platoon. Used the combat pay from 3 tours of duty in the former Yugoslavia to pay for flight school and my various ratings.
Hasn't always been easy - I have PTSD from the Bosnian War and have suffered from depression and alcoholism. But that's in the past; I kicked myself in the ass and got out there; starting to enjoy life again.

Cooking, reading, writing, studying history etc. Yes, I'm a nerd and a bit weird. Does it help if I'm also a devoted fan of the Rocky Horror Picture Show? Learning the guitar; poorly. Writing a book; well but slowly. I hold a second-degree black belt in Shin-shin Toitsu Aikdo and study several defense-related arts.
I love CFL football and curling; a really great hamburger and a girl with a short skirt. I love Impressionist art, space, science fiction and wild discussions of weird topics.

Music:
Classic rock and Opera and everything in-between. Just about anything with emotion and conviction. I've even fallen in love with hip-hop recently; though not the gangsta-version. Music with a positive or humorous message is what I love. Ray Charles and Randy Bachman are favourites; as are Ozzy and Sarah Brightman. (I already said I was weird. This reinforces that. :D)
Movies:
By far my favourite film is the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I'm a fan of musicals like Chicago and Cats - shows which feature gorgeous women in revealing costumes. I love fairy tales - from Tangled to The Princess Bride to Willow - fun, exciting and romantic (with sexy leading ladies). I enjoy smart comedies like "Without A Clue" and "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" Also action flicks - particularly good martial-arts films - but I am less excited about war movies; due to my real-life combat experience. Saving Private Ryan and Blackhawk Down are favourites in that genre thoug Blackhawk Down is a little too real for me - it's very close to what I experienced in real life. Like any soldier (strangely, if you don't know what real soldiers are like) I also have a love of chick flicks and romcoms.
Books:
Whoo, where to start? Everything Terry Pratchett has written; every Mark Twain story or novel. Any work which features brilliant dialogue, insightful commentary and good humour. Well-written nonfiction history texts. Anything with valid literary or historical value.
