I'm California boy raised on the ocean, beaches and waves. When I was transplanted to Alaska I replaced the ocean for snow, the beaches and waves for 40 below and the Northern Lights; Survey is still out to whether it’s a fair trade. The best part of Alaska is It’s summers… 23 hours of daylight always allow for a lot of fun in the sun. Summertime fun includes softball, horseshoes, BBQs, and the occasional fun at the lakes. Though the winters are cold I still have fun, trying to down hill skiing (just learning over the past couple winters), broomball, and “Polar Bearing” in frozen lakes. In some groups, I hold the record for the longest time without getting hypothermia; and yes, I’m proud of it. Yes, I do miss the beaches and California, but that’s when the ones I love as friends and family help me to keep my strength. I always try to be everyone’s friend.
