About me:
I find that when people are asked to describe themselves, they usually include vital statistics (5'11", dark brown/black hair, brown eyes, 160lbs), information about their job (I'm a software engineer, currently developing a new kind of trassportation system security package), or information about other people in their lives (married, feeling adventurous with no kids yet and a cat that drives me mad). Well I'm not going to do that. I try to make it a point to work to live, not live to work. So....
I'm an avid reader of nearly anything. I love a good story in any form whether it be a book, a movie, or the good-old oral tradition. I feel that wealth is not measured in currency, but in the depth and breadth of our human experiences; and I intend to die wealthy. My purpose in life is to expand my horizons, explore the depths of myself, and contribute to the world around me in the most meaningful way I can think of. That isn't stopping world hunger, or fighting for world peace; those ideals are too big for one person. In the end, I want to know that at least one person will be able to stand over my grave and say, "My life was better because he was in it." If that happens, I believe I will count my life a success. While I could go on forever, you'll have to catch the rest of my ramblings in my blogs :)

Who I'd like to meet:
I always find this a particularly strange question: who I'd like to meet. Frankly, the short answer is: everybody. I'm a casual student of humanity and while I'm not particularly outgoing, I really do enjoy meeting interesting people. The kinds of people that I find interesting, though, are simply those who are different from me; who have different backgrounds, ways of life, or cultures. These kinds of people fascinate me as they serve to show the infinite variety of our species and provide the multi-hued palette for our painted world.

Music:
I'm really pretty eclectic when it comes to music. My preferences are rock (classic or pop), and various international styles; namely celtic, spanish and recently south african. However, I have learned to appreciate just about all kinds of music (except for bluegrass, never could get into bluegrass).
My favorite bands/artists are Linkin Park, U2, Queen, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Nickelback, Eric Clapton, Paul Simon and Rod Stewart.
Favorite songs include Layla, Numb, Livin on a Prayer, Beautiful Day and Picture.
Movies:
Now movies... that's another big list. I like everything by Christian Bale (I think I've seen every movie he's ever made), Action/Horror movies (not slashers or gory stuff) like Queen of the Damned, Underworld, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Serenity, 'Overcomer' dramas like The Pursuit of Happyness, The Last Samurai and Coach Carter, smart comedies such as Without a Paddle and The Bucket List and too many more to put here. In short, if it isn't just stupid slapstick comedy, I'm game.
Books:
I love to read. Currently I'm working on an attempt to read all of H.P.Lovecraft's short stories (I think I'm nearly there), but my some of my other favorites are King Lear, Hamlet and Julius Ceasar by William Shakespear, Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, the Lord of the Rings, Hobbit and Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien and the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
