TrickyPuck's Scoop
About me:
I am first and foremost, myself. I refuse to be anyone other than that, and if that means you don't like me, so be it. I refuse to repress myself so that society will accept me. I am very much 'barefoot in the park.' I've recently gone though a reassessment of what i want in life. While before i was forcing myself into the mold i had cut for myself with plans and pressure of achievement, i am now freeing my mind to accept that i need a new plan. I was a chemistry major, now i'm an english major. I'm going to write. I've always enjoyed it, so now i'm going to give it a try. I believe that while i do that, i can teach too. I think i would be a great teacher, and so does my therapist. I have a spark for knowledge and learning, i can inspire the next generation of minds to pursue the high reaches of enlightenment. I've got a poetic soul, and it's sometimes dark. I'll put a few of them up on here. Don't expect me to conform anymore to the ideas the world has that i should be. I REFUSE!!! I am not living my life for my own well being. I'm going to embrace it and run far. Hope you can all learn from these words.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
-- Marianne Williamson ..
if we are able to free ourselves from out insecurity and bondage, we can give someone else the guts to do it. We must teach by doing.
"Paradise is where I am.
--Voltaire
we have to learn to be happy with who we are, where we are. we can't look to other things and expect them to make us happy; happiness is something that comes from within.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
Sure, we've made advances in finding civil equality, but we aren't there yet. Stop sitting back and saying, hey, we've done enough. We still have work to do, so get your self up off your ass and work. it's not going to fix itself. APATHY INFURIATES ME!!!!!!
"...Now is the time to make Justice a reality for ALL of God's children." "We cannot turn back...No, no, we are not satisfied and we will not be satisfied until 'justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream.'" "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of it's creed: 'We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal.'" --Martin Luther King Jr.
Gotta love Martin Luther King. He spoke with such fire and passion; you just had to listen. Though this speech was meant to correct a different injustice and inequality, it still holds true to this day. Keep the dream alive.
In Germany they first came for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me —
and by that time no one was left to speak up.
-- Pastor Martin Niemoller ..
We have a moral obligation to speak up for those who are being abused. If we don't, then how can we ever expect someone to step up for us when we need help. Karma is a bitch, or a great thing, depending on what you put out. This quote has meaning to me, so i put it up above the head of my bed.
Who I'd like to meet:
Just cool friends who can keep up with all my craziness. I am fast paced and full of energy, so that's a job. Really, i'm just looking for people who are cool to hang out with. If we're talking about a potential "other" well, they need to be able to make me think. Vapid gay men are so not the style. Have a brain.
